Hebrew School

We take immense pride in our Hebrew School. Students are engaged in a meaningful way, fostering a life-long love of  Jewish tradition and learning. Our congregation's values are incorporated into meaningful, hands-on, interactive activities, helping to ensure that students become a living link in the chain of our people.
The complicated nature of this time during the pandemic and social justice protests underscore the importance of ensuring our children have a strong foundation in Jewish life. A deep sense of history, a millennia-old call to tikkun olam, the repair of our world, and a sense of mission and hope are among the AJC’s most closely held values.
Based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plus local and state health authorities, for the 2020-21 school year AJC student will engage through a hybrid of in-person, at-home, and virtual learning opportunities.
This AJC Hebrew School learning model seeks to complement the local public schools in recognizing the need to remain ready and flexible should the health situation require us either to pivot back to online-only virtual classes, or allows for additional
in-person sessions.
Full details, including dates and times for both in-person and virtual sessions in both
our Aspen and Carbondale locations can be accessed by clicking here
                                                          Monthly outdoor in-person experiential sessions
Teachers and students will engage through movement and community-building activities
centered each month around a unique Jewish value under the backdrop and splendor of
                                                                      the surrounding mountains.
Themed learning kits
Curated specially for each age group and season, the kits will be distributed at outdoor
sessions and will include arts and crafts projects, books and short Jewish texts, discussion
questions, and other options for engagement.
Weekly Zoom sessions
Jewish values, holidays and culture will be explored in conjunction with the themed
at-home activity kits.
Hebrew tutoring
The AJC Hebrew School faculty and volunteers will continue working with pre-b’nai
mitzvah students in fifth and sixth grade during one-to-one virtual or in-person Hebrew
tutoring sessions.
